Platform Migration Trends

How we detect migrations. We track each newsletter's publishing fingerprint (platform subdomain, custom-domain DNS, RSS feed metadata) across crawls. When a newsletter's fingerprint shifts from one platform to another and we re-find content under the new platform, we record a migration.

Known limitations. All detections currently carry "medium" confidence — promotion to "high" would require creator-confirmed signals (a public announcement on social, a goodbye post on the old platform), which we don't currently ingest. We may also miss migrations behind custom domains where fingerprints aren't visible to our crawlers. The Recent list may show the same newsletter twice or in opposite directions within a short window — those are detection edge cases (data fluctuation, brief reverts) we're investigating, not separate migrations.

With detection volumes still small relative to the tracked universe, read trend direction with more weight than absolute counts.
